Future pig shade

Man we have been blessed with a couple of beautiful days here in Jan. We have been reclaiming some old T-posts around the farm, to make our first corral. It will be a semi-permanent (we plan to make everything movable and flexible on the farm so we can change and adapt as we learn) area that will hold pigs and eventually cattle while they train on electric fencing. Pigs are so curious that they learn very quickly to stay off the fence and before you know it, we can move them around the woods and pasture with minimal electric fencing.

Making use of what we have.
1. My brother in laws Back-Hoe.
                                       2. Half of a fiberglass tank that  was probably used to house some type of animal in the past.

Most people think that pigs are just dirty, but the truth is they don't sweat the way we do. They roll in mud to stay cool. The fiberglass hut in the photos will offer them shade when they are on just pasture, otherwise they will find shade in the woods.

Moving the new pig hut over to the piggy training facility
.....more pictures to come
